How it works

  1. Drop an .xml invoice or a Factur-X / ZUGFeRD PDF on the box above.
  2. Click “Validate (EN 16931)”. The official CEN Schematron rules run in your browser in about a second.
  3. Each error shows the rule ID (for example BR-CO-16) and what is wrong, so you can fix the invoice or ask the sender to.

Which rules are checked?

The validator runs the official EN 16931 validation artefacts published by CEN/TC 434 for both UBL and UN/CEFACT CII syntax. These cover mandatory fields, code lists and calculation rules (BR-*, BR-CO-*, BR-CL-*). For XRechnung invoices, the official KoSIT XRechnung rules (BR-DE-*) are checked as well. Peppol BIS rules and the Italian SDI checks are not included, so an invoice can pass here and still be rejected by a network or national platform.

Why validate in the browser?

Most online validators upload your invoice to a server. Here, the validation engine and rules are downloaded once and run locally, so supplier names, prices and bank details never leave your computer.

Supported formats

Private by design

Invoices contain bank details, prices and customer data. This viewer runs entirely in your browser: files are read locally with JavaScript and are never uploaded to a server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an official validator?

It uses the official EN 16931 rules from CEN and the official KoSIT XRechnung rules, but it is not operated by a government. For XRechnung, the KoSIT validator remains the reference.

Can I validate a ZUGFeRD or Factur-X PDF?

Yes. The XML is extracted from the PDF and validated.

What does BR-CO-16 mean?

Amount due for payment must equal total with VAT minus paid amount plus rounding. Each error message explains the rule.
