What is inside a ZUGFeRD PDF?
ZUGFeRD is a hybrid format: a PDF/A-3 document with an embedded XML invoice (usually named factur-x.xml or zugferd-invoice.xml) in UN/CEFACT CII syntax. Since version 2.1, ZUGFeRD is technically identical to the French Factur-X. The XML is what accounting software processes, so it is worth checking that it matches the visible PDF.

Private by design
Invoices contain bank details, prices and customer data. This viewer runs entirely in your browser: files are read locally with JavaScript and are never uploaded to a server. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my PDF is ZUGFeRD?
Drop it in the viewer. If an embedded invoice XML is found, it is shown with its profile (e.g. EN 16931, EXTENDED). If not, the PDF is an ordinary PDF.
Which ZUGFeRD profiles are supported?
MINIMUM, BASIC WL, BASIC, EN 16931 (COMFORT), EXTENDED and XRechnung.
Can I download the XML?
Yes. Use “Show XML” to view it, or export the data to Excel or CSV.
